High Five For Friday: Spring Break!

It is that time again...Friday!!  Yay for the weekend!

Photobucket

1)  It is my daughter's SPRING BREAK this week!!!!!  Need I say anymore?  It is so nice to take a break from the regular weekday routine.  We also enjoyed a short visit with my mom for a few days.

2) SeaWorld!  My annual pass is about to expire so we snuck in one last quick visit.  Did you know that Florida resident children 5 and under can get into SeaWorld and Busch Gardens Tampa free this year?

3) I finally set up my sewing machine.  After almost 3 years.  I got it as a Mother's Day gift in 2009.

I sewed a dress!!!  My daughter choose the fabric.  It was a pretty simple project as the bodice was      already gathered. I just had to sew a back seam, hem it, and add ribbon ties. But it is a start.  I also made a camera strap cover for my DSLR camera last night.

4.  Family beach day!  My hubby took a couple of days off of work to hang out with us.  The breeze was wonderful and kept us from getting too hot.  Taylor made sandcastles, played frisbee, and splashed in the waves.

5.  Weekend plans to go on a boat!  I am so looking forward to getting out on the water.

How was your week?  Any exciting plans for the weekend?  Link up your top 5 highlights from the week with Lauren.

High Five For Friday/Little Things

I'm linking up with Lauren for her Friday Five series.

Hello Hue Little Things

1.  This past weekend, our daughter spent the night at her cousin's house for the weekend.  This allowed for some quality time with the hubby.  We decided to go check out the Tequesta Brewing Company.  We "shared" a flight of beers for only $6!!  What an awesome deal.

2.  My nephew's Cars-themed 2nd birthday party was on Sunday.  I had so much fun watching the kids run around on the playground while photographing them.  We had absolutely perfect weather.

3.  I spent Tuesday hanging out with a couple of friends and their daughters while my kid was in school.  We spent the morning at Chick fil A for breakfast and then onto the library for story time.  I renewed my library card so that I can start downloading e-books.  I am very excited about this.

4.  Our brand new Publix opened this week!  I may or may not have been 3 times already.  =)  This new store is a hybrid concept of a regular Publix and a Greenwise Publix.  It offers much more organic fare, along with more prepared foods and a cafe with free wi-fi.  There is even a gelato/sorbet stand to get a sweet treat as you walk in.

5.  And last but certainly not least, the Gators knocked off Marquette last night in the NCAA's Sweet Sixteen round!!!  Now we look forward to the Elite 8 round on Saturday vs Louisville.  GOOO Gators!!

1. Spring in Florida means Spring Training baseball games!!  We got three free tickets from a guy my husband knows to a game on Monday.  When we showed up, our seats were awesome!!!  Second row behind the dugout.  It didn't hurt that it was an absolutely beautiful day to sit out in the sunshine.

2. Dinner and drinks at Outback.  Plus a free Blooming Onion. Yum!

3. A quick day trip to Disney World with my hubby and sweet daughter.

4.  Making some time for crafting and decorating my house for Easter.

5.  Getting a very much needed hair cut at a salon last night.  It was my first time trying this salon and I really like my new stylist.  I hope to go back next month to get some new highlights for spring.

Hope you had a great week.  Anything fun planned for the weekend?  We will be visiting with family, attending a Spring party at a friend's house, and going to my nephew's 2nd birthday party on Sunday.

Edited to add:  Yay for March Madness and the start of the NCAA tournament!!  My Gators will be playing Virginia today at 2:10 pm.  GOOOO Gators!!

Pinterest Challenge: Winter Edition

The Pinterest Challenge was thought up by the wonderful Katie from Bower Power to encourage us to actually make something inspired by something we have pinned on Pinterest.  It could be a craft, a recipe, artwork etc. Anything!  I really enjoy pinning and making wreaths for the different seasons or holidays.  While shopping with a friend recently, she mentioned that she would like a Spring wreath.  She told me she had admired a few with Easter eggs while at Target.  Her birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks so I decided I will make one as a gift.

I pinned this adorable Spring Grapevine Wreath from Martha Stewart last year:

I like the look of the grapevine wreath with the moss but she wants Easter eggs, not woodland creatures. I wandered to the back of my local Michael's craft store and found a grapevine wreath with a little "basket."  So I just stuffed some Spanish moss down into the basket portion of the wreath form and hot glued a few colorful eggs inside.  I also love the look of a flag garland inspired by this wreath from Two Junk Chix:

I cut out flag shapes from pink glitter card stock.  I used a ribbon threading craft punch to make slits to slide my thin pink ribbon through.  Next, I decided where and how I wanted the garland to look before tying it to the back of the wreath.  I added a few "feather" butterflies around the outside of the wreath and topped it off with a coordinating bow.

Please check out the great projects done by and link up your own Pinterest-inspired projects with Katie from Bower Power,  Sherry from Young House Love, Erin from The Great Indoors and Cassie from Hi Sugarplum!

Pinerly

I came across a post on Facebook this morning that mentioned a new site called Pinerly.  It is designed to be a dashboard for your Pinterest account.  Has anyone heard of it yet?  Or tried it out?  It is in beta right now and has a wait list.  Kind of like when Pinterest first started up.  It is supposed to make it easier to watch your stats, followers, and drive more traffic to your pins.  They are touting that it will be a good marketing tool.  I would like to check it out but as of now, you have to refer 5 people in order to get started immediately.  Follow this link if you'd like to sign up and get a link to start referring your Pinterest followers.  They can also be found on twitter.

**I am not affiliated with Pinerly in any way.
